Klitzke's signing in

The Haugen's arrived around 1 pm yesterday and the turkey was done so the eating commenced. The lefse was wonderful and nobody went hungry.

We then needed to check on the truck and camper. Unfortunately somebody needed the backup lights on the truck quickly as they had disappeared, so this a.m. we found replacements and all is well and the wiring has been installed so the Metro can follow behind on the dolly. Dean and Shonella are leaving for MPLS early Saturday morning. Shonella has an appointment at Mayo Tuesday.

We will be in Branson all next week having a good time. When we get home I will have to figure out if I am going to draw unemployment and SS, find a job, play, quilt or volunteer for something. I guess the possibilities are endless. For those who don't know, Geo Nunnally decided he could no longer afford to pay me. Always a first time, in your life, to be fired. Harvey said it is a blessing in disguise.

This is simply the most wonderful birthday present ever....Sorry about not teaching my daughters that Marian is spelled with a 'a' instead of an 'o' but that's the way it goes. It was so nice to read all of your blogs.....Dorothy, you need to get on...It will lift your spirits....Cynthia we would love to hear from you....Russell, you can even write some stories.

We've been eating most of the day...when we weren't eating we were celebrating Christmas. I can't believe how great this is....never in my wildest dreams would have I guessed this BLOG.

I'm wondering how the travelers are doing in Arkansas. The Britton delegation (not Terry and I but some good friends) leave for Branson tomorrow morning.... I told them to wear South Dakota hats so you would recognize them and could talk to them. How is the Watenford/Kunkel Thanksgiving going.

We've got a busy schedule until Christmas....programs, parties, moving (my office to another building), ....shopping is all done....no wrapping.....It's great!

Well, I'm going to visit now.....Catch you later!

Happy Thanksgiving

A very Happy Thanksgiving to the Haugen's, from Kansas where the anticipation for the up coming holiday season is at fever pitch.
We are anxiously waiting for Peter and Mary's families. They arrive Wednesday and Lisa's parents Jon and Kathy Beal to arrive early Thursday. I feel like I've been cooking all week so that I can be free to enjoy the festivities.
Mylo and I arrived home on Nov. 8, in a u-haul truck with 136,000 miles on it. We had traveled just over 1300 miles. The clerk at u-haul said she'd be hesitant to take the truck across town, but since it was the only one available Granny and Jed Clampert headed out across country. The potential for disaster was enormous, but with just a few adventures we arrived safe and sound. We are struggling a bit to get two households into one, but making headway. We are also busy with construction, as we convert the shop area into a rec room. It's hard to distinguish the sheet rock dust from the lefsa dust.
Wedding plans continue. Mylo and I plan a trip to Boulder and Colorado Springs early Dec. to finalize everything.
Rehearsal dinner (minimal rehearsal) will be an informal affair at the church, everyone is welcome. Probably sixish, we will have so many small children we'll try and accomodate. Dress comfortably and informally, it is ski season, and pray for good traveling weather.
Special greeting's to the Sletto's as they celebrate Birthdays, Anniversarys, Thanksgiving, Christmas and another Birthday.

Hello everyone!

HELLO FAMILY! Its Isaac here, i need some help. I am taking a duel credit comp class at the college here and the 3rd paper has to be on our heritage and what we carry because of it (we were reading "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien). I need to interview someone who would have ALOT of info on Hans and Marie and probably Bennie.

Thank You, Isaac

Hello Everyone

This is a great idea! What a great way to keep in touch. I hope you are all doing well. It is nice to hear how everyone is doing and see pictures of the kids. They are all growing so quickly.

Kelsey is in the 6th grade this year, and Carley is in 4th grade. They keep us busy with school, Tae Kwon Do (Kelsey), gymnastics (Carley), and all of our church activities. Shane started a new job 6 months ago at the mine, and he loves it. I still work at home doing transcription.

Keep in touch.

Amy

This one's for Dad!

Dad (Terry) recently purchased a "hobby car." It's a fun little MGB (is that how you "spell" it?) and I think he's getting a kick out of it. Hope to hear from others and see more pictures from all of you! We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Boulder. We plan to leave the 26th and spend time with Jeremiah's sister in Douglas, WY (only 4 hours north of Boulder). We'll be back in Mayville the 3rd.--Siri

Halloween Fun!

Here's our Halloween crew--a pioneer girl (who also answered to Laura Ingalls because she got tired of trying to tell people she was a pioneer girl), a cowboy (Josiah--who needed a mom to carry his six gun and horse therefore allowing a hand free for candy), and a bumblebee (Micah--the costume he has used for four out the five Halloweens in his lifetime).

Pleasant Surprise

Glad to see that this has been started. I've thought for some time that it would be great to have a site where all could post.

R is farming...soybeans, corn, sunflowers. Many different crops/machinery than he's been accustomed to dealing with.
We're trying to get ready to leave for Ark (Nov 21). Will spend a wk with Klitzkes at a "time share" in Branson. Don't know where we'll meander to after that. May be home for Christmas or at least in time to plant the garden in the Spr of 2008. It's exciting/scary...no agenda...???

I've got lots to do & so little time. Seems I keep at it, but accomplish so little. WHY DID THIS (slowing down) HAPPEN SO FAST??????

You "younguns" BRACE YOURSELVES!

Till Later,

SKMH
Hello, everyone!

I am quite excited about this blog! Even though the idea came about as a gift for Susan, it really is a gift to us all. I am looking forwarding to keeping up with the lives of the family and to hearing some of the old stories.

Just for fun, I thought I would attach a picture of Ben and Sara. I am hoping to see pictures from all of the group!

This should be fun. Jordan will be amazed that I was able to do this all on my own. Hope all is well. We just purchased out tickets to Denver. We will get there on Christmas eve and are staying until New Years eve- Jordan and Angie will be with us the whole time. Hope the weather stays good so everyone can make it. Solveig have you decided? I heard Soren is growing fast, can't wait to see you next month. I'm glad that Sonja, Nikki and Mike are going too. Siri and Jeremiah, I'm sure you will have a big adventure.
Your mom called looking for new lamp help, if you need help with a Christmas gift.
Hope you are all staying well and the snow stays away for a bit longer.
Love, Tam

SHHHH.....

We'd like to keep this a secret from mom until Thanksgiving...we will 'give' her this as a present and teach her how to use it then!!! I'm excited to hear from everyone. Solveig

WELCOME to the family of Bennie and Marion Haugen

Congratulations on making it here! I am glad you are joining in the fun.

Blogging is such an easy way for a group of people to keep in touch. It's like a group journal. It doesn't have to be lengthy, just something to keep us all connected. I hope you will feel free to share a little bit of your lives. Pictures are always appreciated! Norwegian humor is acceptable... :) We can even (when the mood strikes) share stories from the past that we want recorded for posterity.

Who will be the first Haugen descendent to regale us with tales from daily living or a little bit of family history?
